Rainbow Trout Stocking on the Central Oregon Coast (Spring 2026)

One important detail before we get into it: ODFW’s stocking schedule is listed by week, not a guaranteed “they’ll be there Tuesday at 10:07 a.m.” The Monday date shown is the start of the stocking week, and timing can shift for weather, water conditions, or logistics.

Rainbow Trout Stocking on the Central Oregon Coast (Spring 2026)

If you like the idea of catching a bright, fresh-planted rainbow trout with a salt-air backdrop, the central Oregon coast is basically cheating. Between Lincoln City, Newport/Toledo, and Florence, you’ve got a stacked lineup of lakes (and a couple reservoirs) that get regular plants in spring.

Water bodies and how to get there

Devil’s Lake (Lincoln City)

For a super-straightforward setup, hit East Devil’s Lake State Park—it’s a day-use area with a boat launch and fishing dock at 205 NE East Devil’s Lake Rd.
How to get there: Drive into Lincoln City on US-101, then follow local signs toward the lake/NE East Devil’s Lake Rd.

Big Creek Reservoirs (#1 and #2) (Newport area)

These are a classic “I’ve got two hours to fish” option just north of Newport. Local tourism info highlights it as an easy-access trout spot.
How to get there: From Newport, head north on US-101 and follow local routes toward Big Creek Rd / reservoir access points (parking and shore access are the typical play).

Olalla Creek Reservoir (Toledo/Siletz area)

This one’s closer to the Toledo/Siletz side of Lincoln County and can fish really well after plants—just know access can change depending on land management. (If you go, double-check current access before you burn gas.)
How to get there: Use US-20 to Toledo, then head toward the Olalla/Siletz area on county roads.

Honeyman State Park lakes: Cleawox + Woahink (Florence)

If you want the “campground + dunes + trout” combo, this is the zone. Honeyman sits about 3 miles south of Florence and includes both lakes (Cleawox for easy family access vibes; Woahink for bigger water).
How to get there: From Florence, go south on US-101 and follow signs for Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park.

Munsel Lake (Florence)

Munsel has limited public shoreline, so the main straightforward access is the Munsel Lake Landing boat ramp area.
How to get there: From Florence, head east side of town toward Munsel Lake Rd / the landing access.

Siltcoos Lake (south of Florence)

Siltcoos is big and productive, and spring plants can make it feel like a “lake that owes you fish.” For simple access, there are boat ramps and water-trail entry points around the lake (Forest Service sites exist as well).
How to get there: From Florence, drive south on US-101 and use Westlake-area turnoffs/ramps depending on where you want to launch.

Mercer Lake (north of Florence)

Mercer’s public access is commonly used via the Mercer Lake Boat Ramp; the Forest Service directions are simple: from Florence, go north on US-101 ~5.2 miles, turn onto Mercer Lake Road, then continue about 4 miles to the site.

Quick tips to actually cash in after a stocking

  • Fish the first 3–7 days after the stocking week starts. Fresh plants tend to stay shallow and patrol obvious lanes (docks, points, along weed edges).

  • Keep it simple: powerbait/dough bait, nightcrawlers, small spinners, or a 1/16 oz jig under a float.

Best “high percentage” water for beginners: Cleawox, Munsel, Devil’s Lake (easy access + consistent plants).
