Romantic Getaway in Tillamook, Oregon: A Complete Weekend Itinerary!

The air is fresh, the pace is slow, and natural beauty is all around you. Hand in hand you stroll along quiet beaches where the sound of the waves is the only thing that matters. Stopping for the quiet moments, sharing a laugh or a kiss in the ocean breeze. Enjoying small and cozy spots to share a meal… Every experience feels personal and unhurried, just like the love you’re here to celebrate..

Day 1:

Begin your romantic getaway with breakfast at the Blue Agate Café, located in the nearby town of Oceanside. This cozy café sits just a short walk from the beach and serves up hearty, flavorful breakfasts including crab cakes, French toast, and homemade biscuits and gravy. Grab a window seat and enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean while you sip your coffee and ease into the day.

After breakfast, head to the Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint, just a short drive away. This peaceful park features cliffs, hiking trails, and the historic Cape Meares Lighthouse, the shortest lighthouse on the Oregon coast. Walk hand-in-hand along the cliffs and take in the views of the Pacific, with a good chance of spotting whales or seabirds. Don't miss the Octopus Tree nearby, a uniquely shaped, centuries-old Sitka spruce.

For lunch, stop at the Blue Heron French Cheese Company in Tillamook. This upscale cheese shop is  a gourmet experience complete with wine tastings, deli sandwiches, soups, and local products. Share a cheese and charcuterie board with your partner and browse the gift shop for artisan snacks or local wines to enjoy later.

After lunch, take your time exploring the Three Capes Scenic Route. This loop drive connects Cape Meares, Cape Lookout, and Cape Kiwanda, each with their unique landscapes to explore. Cape Lookout has excellent hiking trails with jaw-dropping viewpoints, while Cape Kiwanda offers massive sand dunes and rugged coastal rock formations perfect for climbing or simply watching the waves crash.

As evening approaches, enjoy dinner at the Pelican Brewery and Taproom in downtown Tillamook. Known for its locally brewed craft beers and flavorful pub fare, this cozy restaurant is a local favorite. Share a plate of beer-battered fish and chips or try one of their gourmet burgers. If you're a fan of unique brews, try their Tsunami Stout or Beak Breaker Double IPA.

End your first day with a sunset viewing at Cape Kiwanda. This is one of the most beautiful spots on the Oregon coast to watch the sun sink into the Pacific Ocean. The golden hour light paints the sandstone cliffs in rich colors, and the roar of the ocean provides a soothing soundtrack to a perfect romantic evening. Bring a blanket, sit on the dunes, and enjoy the view together.

Day 2:

Start your second day with a peaceful nature walk to Munson Creek Falls. Located just a short drive from town, this trail takes you through an old-growth forest and leads to one of the tallest waterfalls in the Oregon Coast Range. The hike is short and easy, making it ideal for couples who want to enjoy the beauty of nature without a strenuous climb. The sound of the water and the peaceful setting make it a wonderful way to start your day.

For brunch, head to Alice’s Country House, a local favorite known for its welcoming atmosphere and hearty homestyle meals. The kind of place where you’ll find generous portions, warm service, and classic comfort food like chicken-fried steak, omelets, and biscuits with sausage gravy. It’s a great place to refuel after your morning adventure.

In the afternoon, consider visiting the Tillamook Air Museum, located inside a massive World War II-era blimp hangar. This museum is one of the largest wooden structures in the world and offers a fascinating look at aviation history, complete with vintage aircraft and interactive exhibits. It’s a unique experience and makes for an engaging indoor activity if the weather is a bit unpredictable.

If you’re looking for a hands-on, memorable coastal activity, try crabbing or tide pooling at Barview Jetty. At low tide, the rocky shorelines are teeming with life—sea anemones, starfish, and crabs—offering a fun and interactive way to explore the marine ecosystem together. If you're feeling adventurous, bring a bucket and try catching your own crab for dinner.

For your final dinner in Tillamook, grab a casual but delicious meal from Tacos La Providencia, a beloved local food truck that serves authentic Mexican cuisine. You can eat at one of their outdoor picnic tables or take your food to a quiet beach for a sunset picnic.

Wrap up your trip with a visit to De Garde Brewing, a one-of-a-kind brewery known for its wild fermentation techniques and sour ales. Their tasting room provides a cozy setting to enjoy some of the most unique beers in the Pacific Northwest. It’s a great place to reflect on your trip and toast to your time together.

Bonus Romantic Touches

If you want to elevate your trip with a truly unforgettable experience, consider booking a horseback ride along the beach. Several local outfitters offer guided rides that take you along the shoreline and through coastal trails. It’s a peaceful way to experience the coast.

For accommodations, there are several romantic options in and around Tillamook. For a luxurious escape, stay at the Whale Cove Inn or another oceanfront inn with private balconies and hot tubs. Alternatively, book a cozy cabin or beachside cottage for a more private experience.

Tillamook offers a warm and inviting escape for couples looking to reconnect and create lasting memories. The town’s natural beauty and unique experiences make it a perfect setting for romance.
