The Best Pizza on the Oregon Coast: My Search for the Perfect Coastal Pie

I want pizza! Pizza that shows up blistering hot, cheese still bubbling, crust crispy around the edges and just chewy enough in the middle. And preferably, I want to eat it while I'm still wearing sandy shoes and wondering whether I have enough daylight left to squeeze in one more beach.

The Best Pizza on the Oregon Coast: My Search for the Perfect Coastal Pie

I'll say something that might get me in trouble with seafood lovers: sometimes, after spending an entire day exploring the Oregon Coast, I don't want clam chowder.

I don't want fish and chips.

I don't want another basket of fried shrimp.

So if I were putting together the ultimate Oregon Coast pizza road trip, these are the places I'd have on my radar.

The Old-School Coast Favorite: Pizza a'Fetta — Cannon Beach

There's something almost perfect about wandering around Cannon Beach until you're cold and hungry and then heading into Pizza A' Fetta Cannon Beach.

This place has been part of Cannon Beach since 1988, beginning in a tiny 369-square-foot space selling slices and whole pies to go.

And honestly, I like that history.

Cannon Beach has become pretty polished over the years, but grabbing a slice of pizza after walking beneath Haystack Rock still feels wonderfully uncomplicated.

You can order by the slice when you just need something quick or commit to the whole pie—which is usually where I'd end up.

Then I'd take it somewhere with an ocean view and let the gulls stare at me judgmentally while receiving absolutely none of it.

The One-Man Pizza Mission: A&B Pizza — Seaside

Then there's A&B Pizza in Seaside.

This is exactly the kind of place I love finding on road trips.

It's small, takeout-focused and essentially built around the pizza rather than the restaurant experience. Customers repeatedly describe it as something of a one-man operation, and the pies lean toward a New York style with a crust praised for having both crispness and chew.

Even the Oregon Coast Visitors Association singles it out as a spot worth seeking out and notes the house-made dough and limited seating.

This isn't where I'd go because I wanted fancy cocktails and waterfront table service.

I'd order the pizza, throw it in the truck and head toward the beach.

That's Oregon Coast fine dining as far as I'm concerned.

The Pizza-Nerd Stop: Hearth & Table — Lincoln City

If I wanted to get a little more serious about the pizza itself, I'd stop at Hearth & Table in Lincoln City.

This is where the Oregon Coast pizza experience starts getting interesting.

We're talking wood-fired, Neapolitan-style pizzas and combinations that venture well beyond pepperoni and extra cheese. The Oregon Coast Visitors Association highlights creations such as a saltimbocca pizza with prosciutto, sage and lemon, along with another combining fennel sausage, chile crisp and honey.

That's the kind of menu that makes me order something I never intended to order.

I'd probably walk in thinking, Just give me pepperoni.

Ten minutes later I'd be eating fennel sausage and chile crisp and wondering why I don't put honey on pizza more often.

Pizza Beside Alsea Bay: The Captain's Crust — Waldport

Then there's one of the more unusual stops: The Captains Crust in Waldport.

It's a wood-fired pizza cart at Treasure Bay Resort along Alsea Bay, serving roughly 12-inch Neapolitan-style pies made with sourdough crust.

This is less about sitting inside a traditional pizza parlor and more about the experience.

I'd grab a pizza and eat outside overlooking the bay.

Fishing boats passing in the distance.

Gulls screaming overhead.

Probably a little Oregon drizzle starting halfway through dinner.

Perfect.

New York Pizza on the Coos Bay Waterfront

Keep heading south and things get interesting again.

Coastal Slice sits on Coos Bay's working waterfront and goes in an entirely different direction: New York-style pizza.

Thin.

Foldable.

Big slices.

The owners started with backyard pizzas before turning the idea into a food trailer, and today they're serving whole pies, slices, stromboli and other goodies from their waterfront location.

There's something delightfully strange about eating a proper foldable New York-style slice while looking out at a working Oregon fishing port.

And I'm completely here for it.

But What's Actually the Best Pizza?

That's where I'm going to annoy everyone.

I don't think there is one.

The best Oregon Coast pizza depends on the day.

After walking Cannon Beach in the rain?

Give me Pizza a'Fetta.

Heading back to the motel after exploring Seaside?

I'm hunting down A&B.

Want pizza to actually be the destination?

Hearth & Table gets interesting.

Road-tripping through Waldport?

I'm eating wood-fired pizza beside Alsea Bay.

Exploring the southern coast?

A giant New York-style slice on the Coos Bay waterfront sounds pretty hard to beat.

And that's what makes searching for the best pizza on the Oregon Coast so much fun.

Don't make it a ranking.

Make it a road trip.

Start north and work south. Stop at the little places. Try something besides pepperoni. Eat a slice on the beach. Find a wood-fired pie beside a bay. And absolutely keep a few napkins in the truck.
